Mayne
(Demolished)
390 St. Kilda Road, Melbourne, 3004.
The Mayne neon sign was installed on the top of Mayne Nikless House in 2002, and remained a source of some controversy thereafter because of its intense brightness.
The sign consisted of a 7.5 metre metal-disk, which was infilled with row upon row of red neon tubes. In white neon tubing, the word "mayne" was spelt out in the centre. The manufacturer of the sign is unknown.
The sign was quietly removed in April 2006.
