The Sun Theatre neon sign was erected as part of the Sun Theatre façade in 1938.
The animated Sun theatre neon sign features a range of radiating coloured neon tubes arranged so as to depict a rising sun. The silhouette of the sun is created from the shaped metal box construction. The word "SUN" is sculptured into the façade of the building below the neon sign.
The theatre and sign were restored in 2003 and the sign is now regularly illuminated as well as listed on the Victorian Heritage Register (File No. H0679).
