Young and Jackson's electronic billboard
1-7 Swanston Street, Melbourne, 3000.
The Young & Jackson's electronic billboard was erected at Melbourne's busiest intersection by APN Outdoor in October 2008, to replace the Seven News neon sign. The sign sits atop the Young & Jackson's Hotel.
The Young and Jackson's billboard uses an array of light emitting diodes (LEDs) to provide illumination and illustration. The edges of the sign feature cut-out square portions of increasing frequency to provide an almost tethered edge.
The electronic billboard is currently Australia's largest at 87 square metres (37 metres long by 3.5 metres high). The display is changed every 8 seconds and advertisements are not animated, so as not to distract drivers and cause accidents.
The Young & Jackson's sign is in excellent condition and is in continuous operation.
