The ornate Johnston's Furniture sign features neon tube lettering with light-box lettering behind. The word "JOHNSTON'S" is spelled vertically and a horizontal panel at the bottom of the sign spells "FURNITURE" in neon. The sign is notable for its heavy construction and ornate support struts. The sign also features a roof-like gable at its peak.
The sign has been out of use since at least 1985. The building is now occupied by a private art gallery. The sign remains in a dilapidated condition and would require considerable restorative works before functioning again.
