Melbourne Club
Summary:
  • Built in 1858-9.
  • Designed by Leonard Terry
  • Listed on the Victorian Heritage Register (no 60194).
Building Description:

The Melbourne Club is Victoria 's oldest institution and its membership has included many notable Australians. It remains a bit of a mystery for many people to the present day, as it is still managed much as it has been for the past 150 years - as an exclusive Gentleman's club for Melbourne's élite. Women are still prohibited from entering!

The Melbourne Club's clubhouse is of architectural significance as a rare intact example of a nineteenth century purpose-built clubhouse.
