The Melbourne Club is Victoria 's oldest institution and its membership has included many notable Australians. It remains a bit of a mystery for many people to the present day, as it is still managed much as it has been for the past 150 years - as an exclusive Gentleman's club for Melbourne's élite. Women are still prohibited from entering!
The Melbourne Club's clubhouse is of architectural significance as a rare intact example of a nineteenth century purpose-built clubhouse.
