Is it ethical to genetically-modify plants so that they can't produce viable seed?

This website is all about learning about the Technology Protection System, otherwise known as Genetic Use Restriction Technology that was developed in the 1990's for that very purpose. The aim was to prevent people from collecting seed and growing the next year's crop from proprietary crop cultivars.
